By 8pm it’s the same quiet trade: do bedtime on empty, or hand over a screen that gives nothing back.

A bedtime world that knows your child and grows them into a reader.

A living adventure where your child is the hero, that remembers them and grows every night, quietly turning screen time into reading time. Read aloud, even in your voice.

The difference

Most story apps make one story, then it’s gone.
This builds a world your child comes back to.

Every other app is a vending machine: tap, get a story, forget it by morning. StoryAloft is different. Each night adds to a world that’s theirs: the creatures they’ve befriended, the treasures they’ve kept, the rooms they’ve unlocked, all carried forward. It remembers what they love and bends tomorrow’s adventure toward it.

That’s why bedtime stops being “can I watch something?” and becomes “can we go find the dragon we saw last night?”

A new world every night

Every adventure starts with a few words from your child. Say it, and they’re the hero of it. Tap a card to see what they said.

A child as the clear hero of their own adventure

A world that knows them.

“That’s ME!”

Your child is the drawn hero of every page. Their name, their face, their crew. Not a name dropped into a template. The gasp on page one is the whole point.

A world that remembers

Their own treehouse, growing every single night: creatures caught, treasures kept, new rooms opening. It carries from one adventure to the next, so it’s never the same twice and always theirs.

It follows what they love

Dinosaurs tonight quietly become more dinosaurs tomorrow. The world bends toward whatever lights your kid up.

A world that grows them

They think they’re playing. They’re learning to read.

No worksheets, no quizzes, no over-promises. Just the real building blocks of early reading, hidden inside an adventure they actually want.

  • Words come alive as they’re read. Each one glows in time with the voice, so little eyes learn to follow print.
  • They sound words out for real (“P-I-G… pig!”). Actual decoding practice, not memorizing pictures.
  • Core words and sight words, caught and tapped inside the story, never on a flashcard.
  • It levels up as they do. Easier words when they need them, a new challenge the moment they’re ready. The story grows up alongside your child.

A fun supplement to reading practice. Never a replacement for school, or for you.

The minutes back

Twenty minutes you don’t have to feel bad about.

Get dinner on the table. Fold the one load. Or just sit down for the first time all day. While you do, your child isn’t zoning out to something that gives nothing back. They’re the hero of their own story, quietly learning to read.

You come back to a kid who’s proud to show you what they did, not one you have to peel off a tablet. The guilt doesn’t come with it.

A world in your voice

And they can hear the whole world in your voice.

Record yourself reading once. From then on, every adventure can be narrated the way you say their name. For the nights you travel, work late, or are just too tired to read another page.

(Prefer not to record? A warm built-in narrator reads every story too.)

Night Mode

For the nights you’re just too tired to read another page.

You’re here. You’re just done reading for tonight. Tap Night Mode and the story reads itself to sleep: the screen dims, the pace slows, a gentle wind-down drifts them off, in your voice.

No taps, no games, no light in their eyes. They still get their story; you get a minute to yourself.

Their treehouse

Everything they find
comes home.

Every creature they befriend, every treasure they keep, every new room they unlock. It all lands in their own treehouse, waiting for them the next night.

A place that’s entirely theirs. One they’re proud to climb back up into, and proud to show you.

Why I built this

I’m Bryan, a dad of three. I kept missing bedtime: traveling for work, or home but worn down by the time 8pm came. And on the nights I was home, my wife and I wanted a little time together, without writing the kids off to a screen that just zoned them out.

So I built the thing I actually wanted: a worldwhere they’re the hero, where they’re learning to read, that’s still there waiting the next night, and where they still hear my voice, even when I’m too tired to read it myself.

If you’re the one holding down the 6-to-8 stretch, I made this for your evening, too.

The questions you’re already asking

The honest answers, especially the ones about safety.

Is this just another story generator?

No. That's the difference. Most apps make a one-off story you hear once and forget. StoryAloft builds a world your child returns to: their ongoing adventures, the creatures and treasures they keep, reading that grows with them, all remembered night to night. It's a world, not a vending machine.

How does the “in your voice” part actually work?

You read aloud for about a minute, once. The app uses that recording to narrate your child's stories in your voice, so on the nights you travel, work late, or are just too tired to read another page, they still hear you. It's completely optional: you can also read together in person, or let a warm built-in narrator do it.

Isn't this just more screen time?

It's the opposite of the tablet that gives nothing back. Your child is choosing the adventure, talking, sounding out words, and reading along. And on the tired nights, it's your voice carrying them to sleep. A few minutes of connection and real practice, not a feed to scroll.

Is my child's photo and my voice safe?

This is the part we take most seriously. Your child's photo and your voice recording are used for one thing only: making your child's stories. We never sell them, never share them, and never use them to train AI models, ours or anyone else's. You can delete any photo, any voice, or your whole account at any time, and it is permanently removed. StoryAloft is built from the ground up to meet children's-privacy rules, including COPPA. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

What happens to my data if I delete it, or if you shut down?

If you delete a photo, a voice, or your account, we remove it from our systems for good. If the company ever winds down or is acquired, your information stays governed by these same promises. It is never sold off as an asset for a different use. You stay in control.

Is it actually educational, or just cute?

Honestly educational, and we won't over-claim it. It's built on the phonics that early reading depends on: letter sounds, sight words, and actually sounding words out loud (not just memorizing pictures), with the words highlighting in time with the voice so eyes learn to track print. Difficulty adapts to your child. It's a fun supplement to reading practice, not a replacement for school or for you.

I have more than one kid. Does that work?

Yes. You can set up each child with their own name, look, and reading level, and switch between them in a tap. Siblings can even co-star in each other's adventures.

What if I'm too tired to read, or don't want to record my voice?

That's exactly what Night Mode is for. It reads the wind-down story for you. Recording your voice is completely optional: you can record it once, read together in person, or let a warm built-in narrator read every story aloud.

What ages is it for?

It's made for roughly ages 3–8. The stories, vocabulary, and reading level adapt as your child grows, so it keeps meeting them where they are.
